Time for a Break

I've been really excited about my book.  Like super excited about getting it published and out there.  What an accomplishment to have written a book.  Sadly though for the last few days I've had serious information overload and total frustration over building a website for said book.

I don't want my website to suck. I have an idea of what I want the site to ultimately look, but I seem to spend countless hours getting frustrated over the smallest of details when trying to build it and I'm still not happy with it.

SO I've been reading all this stuff about websites and making them look the best and all it's done is make me more confused and frustrated.  I don't know where to host it or what to do with it at this point.

Who has the best hosting deal?  Who has the best and easiest website builder?  What am I to do?

I guess it's time for me to stop trying to force it and to take a break from it. The ideas will come. Setting it up will be a breeze in time. I will leave it where it is right now.

Let's Juice It! 

I set up a website and a squeeze page for my book that I'm launching in January.  Took me nearly half of the day too and I'm still not sure that I like it.

First I was going to use WordPress, but I really do not like WordPress and I really wanted to have a dedicated site for the book.  I bought the url and away I went into Happy HTML programming..  (not!)  I don't know what it is about these web builder programs but they are not friendly, at least not me anyway.  I think it's because they expect us to get frustrated so we will go out and hire someone to do it for us.  *sighs*

Anyway...I guess I'm learning as I go.  The site is live and over the next few weeks I will be fighting, um, tweaking it as I go along.

I'm going to go rest my brain now.

Yessss.....It's Friday!!!

So it's Friday.....Friday, Friday, Friday!   Woo hoo, right?  Do you feel like this today?

I do too!  Well, sort of.  I really want to blow off doing any sort of real work and do nothing, but knit and watch movies.  I can't do that though cause I have work to do.  I just launched a new ad campaign with a new agency and I need to keep an eye on it to see how it performs.

I also need to find some information on editing HTML (yes, I am still shaking my fist about HTML).  My fiance says it's not that difficult, but then again, he is the computer whisperer and went to school for that sort of thing.  Me, not so much. I'm a retired microbiologist, remember? One day I will have to tell you the story of how I retired from the lab at 40!

Anyway...so I'm here at my computer writing a blog instead because I really don't want to look up HTML stuff cause it confuses me, and checking my metrics for the day.   I know it sounds crazy, but since I started this adventure in affiliate marketing, I'm really enjoying myself.

Unlike Network Marketing, Affiliate Marketing is such a breeze!  I don't have to talk to a million people and try to convince them to purchase from me or join my opportunity.  I don't have to spend a minimum per month to stay commission eligible.  It's great!  OH and I've made money!!!  Yep, in just a few weeks, I have made money by promoting other people's products.  Not heaps of money yet, but I have made money.  It is awesome!

Now I still believe in Network Marketing, but to do Network Marketing right without burning a lot of people by making huge income promises and having to chase your friends and family, you have to talk to a lot of people, make friends with them and then maybe they will join you and your opportunity. I stress the 'maybe' part, because most of the people I made friends with were already in another company and were happy.  To be honest, I never had much success with it even when I was working it full time.  My business never even paid for my products per month which was a bit disappointing.

That's how I ended up doing affiliate marketing. I was tired of spending all of my time looking for people and promoting a free product to find said people. Now I market and represent real products and companies such as BestBuy and PetSmart to name a few and I'm having fun!  Oh and I'm making money too....

Baby, it's cold outside!

Baby, it's COOOOLDD outside!!

No really, it's really cold out there. I don't know what's up with our weather, but it's only November and it's so cold that I don't want to leave the house.  I wanna stay inside where it's nice and warm.

Best part is I don't have to go out today because I work from home.  Bwhahaha.....I love that.

Today I've been spending some time figuring out a few things about the language of HTML.   What I've learned so far is I know jack about HTML except for how to identify it and how to shake my fist at it. I'm very good at shaking my fist at it.  (the cats stare and think I've lost my mind when I do this!)

See, I want to update and reformat my blog and website and make them really snazzy, but I need to learn a little more about HTML so they'll look good and not shi**y.  I should probably sign up for a class or something.  Maybe I'll go look into that later.  It's not like I don't have a million other things to do already like pet the cats, finish this blog, eat something, continue knitting G.'s Christmas present and what not..

I am totally having an ADD day, but I'm home, I'm warm, I'm working and I'm happy.
