Freedom, Happiness, Joy and Money

It's Tuesday and just another day here at the home office.  The cats are all napping and it's snowing out.  I had my lemon and juice this morning and when I went to take a shower earlier, I found that the water for the complex was turned off.  I had no idea that they were going to turn it off so I was a bit surprised, but it's ok.  I work from home so it doesn't matter whether I take a shower at 7 am or 7 pm.

So why work from home?  Other than having the flexibility to take a shower when you want, what makes working from home so awesome?

For me it's all about freedom, happiness, fun and money.

Freedom to do what I want when I want. I am not bound to a clock. Like the shower thing, I choose what I do everyday and when to do it.

Happiness come from this freedom. No longer do I have a boss breathing down my neck to do one thing or another.  I also don't have to deal with co-workers that I don't like.  It's also very quiet which the introverted side of my personality needs.

What I do is also a lot of fun.  I have always loved being online and making friends. From the time I was in college back in 1991 and I first got online at my school, networking with other college students became a huge part of my life because it was fun.  24 years later and I am still networking and enjoying every minute of it. It's even more fun now because of the technology.  I just love it!

As for money, it kind of goes like this: when I am doing a good job, I make money. The better effort I put in, makes me more money. It's that simple.  Unlike a job where you are paid a flat rate for your work, I can make an unlimited amount of money if I choose to.

So what do I do everyday?  Most of my friends think I just spend my day doing nothing which is very far from the truth.  In fact, I used to have a friend who would just stop by at random during the day because she knew I was home and figured that I could just stop working to hang out with her.  (I was never fond of that)

Anyway, I spend my days on the internet because I am an internet marketer. I promote other people's products like books and various other things.  I've written my own book and I spend some time editing that. Eventually I will be turning my efforts to promoting my own book.  I create videos and graphics to help promote my pages, twitter and various other social media outlets.

My hope is that more people take the chance and try internet marketing because no one deserves to work for someone that they they don't like, doing things on their time schedule with people they don't like for a salary that barely pays the bills. I used to be one of those people and it was miserable.

Now I have freedom, happiness, fun, and money

Motivation. I Has It Not Today

Motivation.  I has it not today.

I'm not sure why either.  I imagine my lack of motivation is directly proportional to the fact that I didn't sleep well last night and then I woke up with a bit of a headache.

Anyway...I made a promise to myself a few weeks ago that on days like this instead of checking out for the day and just resting, I would still get up and do something to promote my  business. Today that consists of checking a few of my ad campaigns, doing a bit of promotion on twitter and pinterest and writing this blog (even though I'd rather be taking a nap.)

So on motivation.  There are so many quotes and memes and inspirational books written about motivation that are really great, but really at the beginning or end of the day it's up to us to do what needs to get done. We are the captains of our own destiny and success.  We pilot the boat.  Without us, our boat just sits in the water and we get nowhere.  Ultimately, nothing gets done.

I struggle with motivation quite a bit as I believe many people do.  I think it probably stems from the fact that I am my own boss.  No one is telling me what to do everyday or how to do it.  I don't have to live up to anyone's expectation but my own.  I have to tell me to do things. (ha ha)  I have to be the one to decide what to do and how to do it everyday.  When I am feeling like I do today,  I know I have to stay motivated if I want my business to be successful. I have to kick myself in the ass and get on my computer and do my work despite the fact that I just really do not feel up to it.

So I'm here.  Writing my blog and checking a few things off of one of my master lists.  Eventually, I will lie down and take that nap I so desperately want today.  Later I'll probably read a book or watch a bit of TV. I will enjoy today for what it is and be thankful that I do work from home.
