Why?

I've been in New England now for almost 6 months. I had a contract which ended, but I decided to stay.  Why?  Well isn't that the question that is on everyone's mind.  Why did you stay in New England?  Why didn't you go home where you own a  house and all your things are?  Why not go back to your life and your family and friends and then just go back on the road in a few months?

Well, truth be told,  I love New England.  I've always loved New England. I know, I know...I am crazy for loving it out here like I do, but it's true. I love New England.

When I was younger and finishing my degree after my divorce, my best friend used to live in Boston.  One summer when I was visiting my folks in Florida, I decided to take a weekend trip to see her. That was all it took.  One trip to Boston and I was sold.

We went into the city and took the train. A guy on the train came up to me with rose and told me I was beautiful.  We wandered the streets after going to a club and I caught a whiff of the NECCO plant. I fell in love with the archetecture and the people. I've never stopped dreaming of New England since that trip.

For years, I would always visit my friend because I loved the area so much and every time I left, it was always with a heavy heart and a few tears. I always felt that I was leaving some part of my life behind when I would get home and again, I'd always be dreaming of New England.

So fast forward in my life and I've done more traveling.  I've seen some very beautiful parts of the United States. I've made friends everywhere I've ever visited. I'm thankful for all of those experiences and all the beautiful things I've seen along the way.

None of them however, was ever New England. When I got the contract in September to come out here, I was beyond elated.  I hadn't been to New England in years.  My bestfriend had moved to VA in 06 so I had no reason to travel here like I had in the past.

Well,  I made the decision before I left New Mexico that I give myself a chance and really immerse myself in the local flavours of the area.

6 months later, and now I live here. I got a job at a large hospital in Boston. I'm looking for a new home and even though I'm not completely settled or moved yet,  I feel that I am already home.

So that's how I got here.
