Something got into me on Friday and I decided to move things around in my house. I call it 'the spirit of change' and since this is the year of change for me, why not start with my home? I spend an enormous amount of time in my home and can be somewhat complacent about it....
But this is the year of change! woo hoo!!
So, the first room I tackled was my bedroom. For the past 3 years, I've had it set up the same way, with the bed on one wall and the dresser on another wall....blah blah blah. You get the picture!
Anyway, as I started this adventure, I had all the intention of having it finished in an hour. Ha ha.....Superwoman will move all the furniture and dance a little jig in ONE WHOLE HOUR. Watch her push, shove and lift the meek furnture and make the bedroom sparkling new and shiny in one hour.
Of course, things never really work out exactly the way we plan them and this task was no exception. First I started by moving the small furniture out of the room. That was easy. Then there was the bed. I love my bed, I really do, until I have to move her. She is top heavy kind of like me! Ha ha! I went to move her top bit (mattress), and with a shove and a push barely got her off of the boxsprings. 'Dammit' I exclaimed.
Ahjah, my wise and elderly cat, was watching this scene with a glimmer in her eyes to say "Crazy mother, the bed does not need to be moved" If she could have laughed and smiled at me, I believe she would have. I think she was only saying that because the bed is her throne. She never leaves the bed even when I pull the sheets off to be washed.
So, the bed was barely moved, Ahjah started climbing back onto her skewed throne and threw me some dirty looks while I was thinking of a new tactic to attack the mattress with. I turned her on her side, Ahjah climbed to the top and mewed at me as if she were overseeing this whole event while I attempted to shove the behemoth mattress into the hall. Ahjah did not move. She rode the mattress into the hall like a queen. What a sight! Hallelujah, the mattress was finally out of the way so I turned my attention to the rest of the bed and the rug.
The boxspring and frame were easy. The rug was even easy move. So far I was liking this new furniture plan!
But there was that bed again! Let's just say that getting her out of the bedroom was the easy bit.
Overall it worked 'as plan' except it took more than 3 hours, but I am doubly happy with the result. The room seems more roomier, the cats seem to like it better (even the queen) and I can see more of my lovely rug which was obscured by the bed before. I need a headboard now though. *sigh* It's always something...hehehe....
Change: it's always a good thing!!
Sonrie'!
